Drug description: Bicillin-3 is white or yellowish-white powder that forms stable suspension on addition of water.
Pharmacological effect: antibacterial and bactericidal action
Indications and usage:
Contagious diseases caused by microorganisms susceptive to Bicillin-3 (especially when long-term maintaining of therapeutic concentration is needed), including acute tonsillitis, scarlatina, wound infections, erysipelatous inflammation; rheumatism (prevention and treatment), contagious diseases caused by treponemas (syphilis, frambesia), leishmaniasis.
From the cardiovascular system and hemic system: blood deficiency, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, hypocoagulation .
Allergic reactions: skin and mucous coat rash, nettle rash, eosinophilia, joint pain, erythema multiforme, dermatitis exfoliative, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic shock.
Others: head ache, high body temperature, arthralgia, stomatitis, glossitis, soreness at the needle entry point; during the long-term therapy – superinfection caused by microorganisms and fungi resistant to Bicillin-3.
Dosage and administration:
Bicillin-3 in a dosage of 600000 IU is administered once in 6 days. The injection should be made intramuscular and very deep.
Contraindications: hypersensitivity (also to other penicillins and Bicillin-3 constituents). With vigilance – bronchial asthma, pollinosis, nettle rash and other allergic diseases; hypersensitivity to different medications, including antibiotics and sulfanilamides (in past medical history).
Safety precautions: in relation to possible development of mycotic lesions, it is recommended to place on vitamin B complex, as well as vitamin C, and, if needed, nystatin and levorin. Consideration must be given to the fact, that Bicillin-3 administration in insufficient doses or previous treatment cessation can lead to emergence of resistant germ strains.
